The Game View needs a keyboard and a mouse, so it runs on a desktop browser only. On a phone BLOCKHAVEN is your profile, avatar, inventory, market and inbox.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| W A S D | Move |
| Space | Jump |
| Shift | Walk slowly |
| Mouse | Look, left button fires |
| Right mouse | Scope or use the held item; otherwise the same as E |
| 1 - 5 | Hotbar slots |
| R | Reload |
| E | Interact (tycoon buttons, machines) |
| G | Toggle first / third person |
| Y | Open the chat box |
| U | Team chat |
| Tab | Scoreboard |
| Esc | Pause menu, settings and quit |
Alt-Tab and the Windows key release the mouse without pausing the round — only Esc pauses. Loading a world takes the browser fullscreen and quitting puts it back the way it was.
Chat sits in the lower left. While the chat box is open every other key is ignored, so you can type freely. Double click a username in chat to open that player's profile in a new tab.
Two builds ship: Male, the broader one, and Female, the slighter one, which has its own head as well — narrower, a little taller than it is wide, and tapered through the jaw to a smaller chin. They share the same hat anchor and the same hitbox, so every hat, face, shirt, pair of trousers and back item you own fits either of them — switching build never costs you an outfit. The female build also has its own walk: the hips carry the stride and the shoulders answer them, rather than the arms and legs swinging from a trunk that stays put.
Seven parts of you take a colour of their own — head, torso, hips, both arms and both legs — and seven slots take cosmetics: face, hair, hat, shirt, trousers, belt and back. Hair is fitted to whichever head you are wearing, so every style suits both builds. A belt is worn over your trousers, so it shows whatever else you have on, and the hips colour is what shows when your trousers do not cover them.
Buying a hat from the market has a 0.5% chance of producing an Unusual copy. Unusual hats carry a particle effect that renders on your head in every world and on every avatar preview across the site. Only hats can roll Unusual.
A visit is recorded once you have been in a world for 30 seconds.
Every world has a per-round capacity. When an instance fills up the host opens a new one, so the browser might show "2 instances, 30 players" for a world whose round size is 24.
Blackout Relay — capture the flag at dusk across a long valley. Respawns come in waves, losing your flag moves your team into the bunkers, and the clock cannot end a round while a flag is still out. First to five captures.
Last Light — co-op zombie survival for up to twenty-four. Endless waves, a Tank every fifth, revive anyone who goes down, and three tries at an area before the server shuffles somewhere new.
Both worlds award badges — see your profile.
